ComputersPlease excuse the mess while we redesign the website. Thank you. Website Design: My philosophy for personal website designs: Clean, valid code that is hand written with a simple text editor, an easy to follow system of navigating the website, a color scheme that is easy on the eye, and a minimum of unnecessary eye & ear candy. Sorry, I don't need to listen to the overture for "The Sound of Music" while watching a FLASH video of your (now 50-year-old) grandson's first poopy on the adult toilet back in 1961, when I'm trying to find the hidden link to your 12-year-old manifesto on the benefits of minimalistic website design. CircleMUD: I credit (or blame) Henry Priebe from The Blue Moon Internet Corp., a Buffalo, NY, area ISP and provider of the Railfan.net hosting site for railroad-related websites, for introducing me to CircleMUD with his now-retired MoonMUD. As with most things computer related, it wasn't long after I started playing it that I wanted to setup a local copy of CircleMUD on my PC and explore and experiment with the program -- and teach myself C along the way. One of the many little projects I have on my to-do list is to create a PHP, Flash, or Java (or some combination there of) version of CircleMUD that doesn't require a telnet client and doesn't need to have a process constantly running on my webhost's server. Games: Stay tuned... I've written and / or installed a number of little games on my websites over the years. Almost all have just been there for my own amusement. Eventually, I might add a few to the public portion of this website. Scripts, Snippits, and Stuff: Stay tuned... There is a lot of code that I have written or adapted over the years for this project or that one. Most of it is probably useless to the general public, but as I go through it all, I might find something worth sharing. |
